Learning Objectives:
After this session, you will be able to:
  • Recognize an ethical dilemma within an organization
  • Identify improper departures from U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) reporting as a means to improve reported results
  • Recognize the appropriate ways to increase profits within GAAP and ethical guidelines
  • Identify an auditor's role and responsibility when faced with an ethical dilemma.

Dr. Amy Pilcher, IMA Waterloo-Cedar Falls Chapter President

Dr. Amy Pilcher is an assistant professor of business administration, accounting and economics. Her primary areas of teaching are managerial and cost accounting, government accounting, supply chain management and leadership. Her professional experiences include working for the City of Iowa City and Iowa State University. Prior to joining the faculty at Wartburg College, Amy taught at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Amy is a member of the Institute of Managerial Accounting IMA) and the American Accounting Association. She is currently president of the Board of Directors for the IMA Cedar Falls-Waterloo Chapter. Amy is a Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA). Amy’s research interests include the use of technology to supplement learning, online learning quality and student experiences, and the use and development of case studies in business and accounting courses.
